Founder, Food Safety Systems
FSS was founded in the spring of 2000 by Stacy Sagowitz, a leader in the school food service industry with over 35 years experience. In the first 10 years of her career, Ms. Sagowitz served as School Food Service Director for the Hayward USD and the Ravenswood City School District, both in California, and as a dietetic intern with the Milwaukee Public Schools, Wisconsin, where she earned her credential of Registered Dietitian (R.D.). During this time as a School Food Service Director, she earned an M.B.A. degree from San Francisco State University with a dual major in operations management and marketing.
John is a registered dietitian who currently works at Long Beach Unified School District. His interest in food and eating has led to a dream job where he gets paid to taste test food. Most of his friends know him as the human Yelp, since he remembers cities based on local eateries. Aside from working at a school district, John is an avid Yogi and a Registered Yoga Teacher. Taste Test, Menu Planning, Special Diets, and Downward Facing Dogs pretty much sums up his typical day.
Emily started her career with General Mills in 2010 as a Field Customer Specialist where she quickly came to love working with school districts and learning about school nutrition. In 2013, she was chosen by the GM K-12 Marketing team to take SNS Certification test, something that had not been done by a field sales person at General Mills. After obtaining her SNS Certification, she was promoted to Account Executive /Education Specialist and works with key distributors and customers in the region. Over the past several years Emily has been involved in the local SCSNA Chapter and been a part of the Fundraising Committee to help raise funds for LAC Scholarships. When not working, Emily enjoys spending time with her two boys David (8) and Eric (6), helping out at their school or volunteering in the community.
